The Kestrels

A safe, inclusive, birding group for women and non-binary individuals. Based in Minnesota.

Why Kestrels? Graceful and fierce, the female American Kestrel stands apart from the male in plumage, size, and behavior. The larger of the two, she migrates south first, establishing her winter territory in open habitats, while the males take to the forests.

We acknowledge that barriers of inequality and lack of accessibility have prevented many people who would like to explore the benefits and wonders of nature from doing so.

We hope to make this hobby welcoming and supportive of all abilities and experience levels. We are friendly, inclusive, and happy to help beginners!
